Lucio Fontana. Two rare catalogues 1961-1962
(1) Lucio Fontana. Ten Paintings of Venice. New York, Martha Jackson Gallery, 1961. Staple-bound, 27.2 x 21 cm, 24 pp. Bright yellow/green wrappers with die-cut holes, accentuated by underlying black flyleaves. Published in conjunction with Fontana's first solo exhibition in the United States held from November 21 to December 16, 1961. Text 'Man on the Border' by Lawrence Alloway and an extract of 'Spazialismo' (1946) by Fontana in English. Includes nine tipped-in illustrations in b/w and colour, a portrait of the artist in a gondola, and a detachable order form for Michel Tapié's 'Devenir de Fontana'. Tiny scratches on gorgeous front wrapper, faint age staining on some pages, generally very good.
(2) Lucio Fontana du 27 octobre au 21 novembre 1962. Brussels, Le Zodiaque/ Gerard Moneyn, 1962. Staple-bound, 28 x 19 cm, 12 pp., with b/w ills. Features Lawrence Alloway's text from the Martha Jackson catalogue translated in French, and a text by Michel Fougeres. Both exhibitions were organized in collaboration with Mc. Roberts & Tunnard LTD London. Moderate browning to covers, interior in fine condition. (total 2)
