[Bindings] Dutch black sharkskin wallet binding w. gilt metal (brass?) clasp and catch, ca. 1760

The clasp and catch in low relief dep. a hare and a dog, w. lock and (remarkably) the tiny key preserved. Brass edges of covers; orig. gilt brass pen, consisting of two interlocking parts, preserved in holder at the fore-edge; two silk inner pockets; all edges gilt. 11.2 x 6.5 cm. Upper flap together w. part of spine loose. On: Manuscript family notebook of Johan Theodor & Anna Charlotte Simmers-De la Fargue (married 30 Nov. 1760), 6 laid paper lvs, 4 white cardboard lvs and 2 bone or thick vellum lvs, 5 pages w. entries of births, baptisms, deaths and marriages dated 1760-1842.
