Dutch translations, four rare titles: (1) (Moore, G.). De abdy van Grasville

Naar het Fransch. Van B. Ducos. Leyden, P.H. Trap, 1803. 2 parts in 1 vol. 236; 207 p. With 2 diff. engr. titles by R. Muys. Contemp. hmor. w. gilt spine. Waterst. throughout. W. owner's entry of Michiel Buisman and details of purchase 30/1 '36 on first free endpaper. Buisman, Populaire Prozaschrijvers van 1600 tot 1815, no. 1648 (almost certainly this copy): "B. Ducos is niet de schrijver, doch de vertaler uit het Engels in het Frans". Extremely rare first Dutch edition, apparently no copies in Dutch libraries, so also no copy in UB Leiden. Perhaps George Moore banned the publication, as his name did not appear on the title-p. The translation does appear in the online available list by C. Wintermans 'Dutch Translations of English Novels 1770-1829', the first English edition appeared in 1797. (2) V. Hugo. De laatste dag van eenen ter dood veroordeelden. Uit het Fransch door H.L.F. Printed by H.P. de Swart for G. Vervloet in The Hague, 1829. (6), 203 p. Finely bound in full green mor., both covers w. gilt corner ornaments, gilt spine, edges of covers and turn-ins. The first Dutch edition, published in the same year as the first French edition. Early work by Victor Hugo (1802-1885). (3) (A.-L.-G., Madame de) Stael Holstein. Corinna, of tafereel van Italië. Met eenige bijgevoegde ophelderingen. Haarlem, F. Bohn, 1808-9. Two vols.: IV,368; IV,444,(1) p. Both w. an engr. title, ident. vignette and 2 plates by R. Vinkeles. Contemp. hcalf gilt spine w. 2 contrast. mor. letterpieces. Both vols. more or less foxed at the beginning and end, offsetting from turn-ins. -and 1 very rare other (1839, also w. owner's entry of Buisman).
