Eduard Jacobs (1868-1914) was a Dutch songwriter and is often regarded as the first Dutch cabaratier. In his early twenties he played piano at the Moulin Rouge. There he met Artistide Bruant, who made an enormous impression on him and became his role model for his comical songs.
