Uchtmannus, Allardus. Vox, clamantis in deserto ad doctissimum juvenum Hadrianum Beverlandum,
Jurisperitum. Middelburg, Th. de la Maire, n.d. (ca. 1680). 61,(2) p. Later gilt half morocco w. crowned initials "C.G." on spine, 12mo.
Fine copy. Likely written by Adriaan Beverland himself, using the recently deceased professor Uchtmannus as a pseudonym. Beverland, a philosopher, was particularly interested in the history of prostitution and erotica. His work was highly controversial during his lifetime and he was even convicted for blasphemy, causing him to be banned from the university of Leiden. The present work contains sharp criticism of the administrators and professors of Leiden. The final page includes a Dutch satyrical poem by J. la Fer.
