Christopher Knowles. Two artists' books
(1) Christopher Knowles, Typings (1974 - 1977). New York, Vehicle Editions, 1979. Softcover, 28.6 x 25.8 cm, 110 pp. First edition of 1500 copies. Artists' book with typescript works by the American poet and artist Christopher Knowles (b.1959). In 1976 (when he was only 17) his work was discovered by Robert Wilson and incorporated in Phillip Glass's minimalist opera 'Einstein on the Beach'. The book contains two chapters, 'Poems' featuring text pieces used as lyrics for Einstein on the Beach, and 'Other Typings' consisting of concrete poetry printed in black, green and red. Sunning on cover and spine, interior in fine condition.
(2) Christopher Knowles, Drawings. Rotterdam, Publishing House Bébert, 1985. Softcover, 27.5 x 21 cm, 32 pp. Issued on the occasion of the exhibition at Museum Boymans-van Beuningen held from October 20 to December 2 1985. Features amazing drawings printed in black, red and green. Introduction by Robert Wilson in English. Small price sticker on rear cover else near mint. (total 2)
