Doeve, Eppo (1907-1981). Ten items: (1) Guestnight at Molasses

Drawing in pen and ink, some spots heightened w. white, 20 x 27.5 cm, signed "Doeve" in lower left corner, under passe-partout w. a sm. reproduction of the drawing bearing the same title, (2) Sketchbook, 31 ruled pages with num. sm. drawings in pen (a few in black chalk, 1 finished as watercolour), orig. threadbound wrs., signed "J.F. [Jozef Ferdinand] Doeve in pen on frontwr., 22.5 x 15 cm. Early sketchbook from the period that Doeve was a student at the Landbouwhogechool in Wageningen (1927-1930 (see also a collection of his notebooks in the manuscripts section of this auction), already showing his great talent. Loosely inserted is a typescript letter from the Nederlandsch-Indische Onderwijs- en Studiekas, addressed to Doeve and dated 27 Febr. 1928, concerning his allowance of fl. 125,- Also included are few sketches in pen on verso. -and a sketchbook w. 23 drawings in var. techniques, 14.7 x 24 cm. Added: 5 books on Doeve, 1 book illustrated by him and a box containing a series of approx. 80 slides from the collection of printer Alje Tamminga, w. xeroxed article "Amstelveense drukker red verzameling Doeve".
