Occas. internal defects such as foxing and sm. tears, the wrappers w. the inevitable minor tears (mainly sm. and on spine). In all a good set, very rare in the orig. instalments. The frontisp. portrait, list of ills. and introd. are cunningly published at the end of the final volume. A copy in old cl. is also included in the lot. (2) Life and Adventures of Robinson Crusoe. Banbury, printed by J.G. Russell, n.d. (ca. 1840), 16 p., w. 6 woodcut ills. by R.E. Branston after G. Cruikshank, preserved as fold. plano sheet without binding, 10 x 6.5 cm. (3) Robinson Crusoe. London, W.S. Fortey, n.d. (between 1860 and 1885), 8 p., w. 4 woodcut ills., orig. woodcut wr., 13 x 9.5 cm. Dog-eared, torn on spine, but a good copy for such a fragile booklet. -and 4 others, incl the Tauchnitz edition (1845), edition of 1851 and 1856, one between 1860 and 1885 and an edition by J. Wrigley (N.Y.), ca. 1865.
