(1) Hommage to Black Prince. Lithograph in colours on wove paper, 43.5 x 41 cm. Double page plate, pages 8 and 9 from the deluxe edition of the '1¢ Life' portfolio. Two small creases in lower edge, not affecting the image, hardly detectable center fold as issued, generally in good condition. Part of the original sheet has been detached for former framing, but is offered with the lot. It contains a poem by Walasse Ting and signature by Al Hansen in pencil. Verso with scuffing. (2) Composition. Lithograph in colours on wove paper, 41 x 29.5 cm, hand signed in lower left in pencil. Mild age spotting on lower left edge, not affecting the image, else in very good state. Verso with printed image as issued.

Two prints taken from the deluxe limited edition of the '1¢ Life' portfolio published by E. W. Kornfeld in Bern, edited by Sam Francis, and exquisitely printed by Maurice Beaudet in Paris, 1964. The avant-garde publication combined text works by Walasse Ting with artworks by Pop and Abstract artists such as Al Jensen, Roy Lichtenstein, Jim Dine, Joan Mitchell, Mel Ramos, Andy Warhol et al. It was produced in a regular edition of 2000 copies, and a deluxe edition of 100 copies.
