[Queer Literature] Heezen, Charley van (pseud. J.H. François). Anders
Den Haag, Luctor et Emergo, 1918. 1st ed. Decorative cloth. Design by Willem Arondéus.
A pioneering Dutch novel openly addressing homosexual love. Although not the first Dutch work to depict same-sex relationships (Jacob Israel' de Haan's 'Pijpelijntjes' (1904) preceded it), Anders is among the earliest to write about same-sex relationships in a compassionate and comparatively hopeful way. It is regarded as an important milestone in early queer Dutch literature.
