Large coloured folio atlas comprising a world map Nova Orbis Tabula in Lucem Edita A.F. de Wit and maps of the four continents: Europa, Africa, Asia and America, all by F. de Wit, together with 99 European maps and 2 town plans by various authors incl. F. de Wit, H. Hondius, W. Blaeu, J. Janssonius, H. Allardt, N. Visscher, P. Schenk, J. Ottens, N. Sanson and Le Rouge. Early maps by H. Hondius and J. Janssonius (1630-1650), later maps by F. de Wit and N. Sanson, and the 18th-century additions mainly by P. Schenk. All finely coloured. Including a complete two page register in manuscript.
The atlas was completely and expertly restored by Michel Fasson, master bookbinder at La Feuille de Pélain, Barchon (Belgium). Bound in artificial leather, w. ornamental gilt border and gilt tooling and title to the spine, marbled endpapers. Housed in a cardboard box lined with soft fabric for protection.
