Toonder, Marten (1912-2005). Onkenhout statuettes

Large collection of 31 Jan Ernst Onkenhout statuettes, after the original ceramic statuettes that were placed in the Rommeldam theme park, 1955-59*. Varying in height between 3.5 and 31 cm., Onkenhout decided to reproduce part of the set of statuettes he created in the 1950s for a small group of collectors in the 1980s-90s, hand-painted from the original molds.

(total 31) *For the original Rommeldam theme park, Jan Ernst Onkenhout (1932-96) created over 500 clay figurines, painted with a special weather-resistant paint. Most measured fifteen to twenty centimeters in height and were designed to fit within the park's miniature house and buildings, which stood about 85 centimeters tall.
