Frisius, S.W. (ca. 1580-1629). Topographia variarum regionum

Set of 10 (of 28) etched landscapes after Matthijs Bril (ca. 1550-1583), each approx. 11 x 15 cm, all signed "Mathias Bril Inventor" or similar and w. address "Hhondius excudit/ excudebat", mounted at upper corners under passe-partouts. Strong impressions on paper w. foolscap watermark, w. ample margins. Three leaves w. sm. closed tear in lower margin (also well outside platemark), some marginal spotting. Attractive set of this rare series of landscapes. All with unidentified collector's mark (Lugt 4073) on verso. Hollstein (Frisius) 126, 131, 132, 134, 135, 139, 138, 144, 146 and 149, all 1st state (of 2), the first edition of the series, published by Hondius in 1614. -and 4 others by and after the same, incl. 3 from a similar series of 25 prints with the same title, published in 1611 (Hollstein 101, 107 and 119).
