Snellinck (I), J. (1544/49-1638) (after). The twelve prophets

Complete series of 4 engravings, all ca. 21.5 x 28 cm, the first print w. address "Gerar. de Iode Excudebat" (Gerard de Jode, 1509-1591), all w. the prophets' names at the top and 4-line Latin text below each prophet, mounted at upper corners under passe-partout. Very good impressions on rather thin paper, w. ample margins, a fine complete set. Mielke, 'Antwerpener Graphik in der 2. Hälfte des 16 Jahrhunderts. Der Thesaurus veteris Testamenti des Gerard de Jode (1585) und seine Künstler, Zeitschrift für Kunstgeschichte 38 (1975), nr. 42, 1st state (of 2) (apparently 3 states present in the Rijksmuseum). Gerard de Jode was Snellinck's father-in-law. The prophets in order of appearance: David, Daniel, Elias, Amos, Zacharias, Malachias, Esaias, Jeremias, Ezechiel, Elisaeus, Jonas and Abdias.
