Latin text below the image, mounted at upper margins under passepartouts. Good impressions on paper w. occas. (traces of) watermarks (incl. Cross of Lorraine), plate 1 w. wide margins, the other plates trimmed on/ just outside the plate mark (sl. affecting the number of plate 4). Plate 5 w. tiny burning-hole. New Hollstein (J. Wierix) 62, 63 and 65-68 and New Hollstein (Van Groeningen) 51, 52 and 54-56, first state (of 2). (7-9) The story of David and Absalom. Three (of 4) engr. plates, all ca. 19.5 x 26 cm, numb. 1-3, after Maerten de Vos (I) (1531-1603), plate 1 signed "Johan W." and "M. de Vos inventor" and w. address "G. de Iode excudit" in lower margin, all w. 1-line Latin verse below the image, mounted at upper corners under passepartout. Fine impressions, trimmed (sl. unevenly) on/ just outside the plate mark. Smoothed-out central vertical folds. Hollstein (J. Johannes Wierix was the brother of Hieronymus Wierix and Anthonie Wierix (II).
