Toonder, Marten (1912-2005) De Andere Wereld
India ink on paper. Comic strip 0416, 1979. A thoughtful Kweetal is involuntarily accompanied by Lut Lierelij*. Second page issued in 'De Andere Wereld', a story on the immigration issue, published as Boekenweekgeschenk in 1982. 11 x 35 cm.
Fun fact: Lierelij chants "Lent is inte knop, Lude sing tutu." Toonder derived the character Lut Lierelij from a gag strip by William O'Brian, published in the The New Yorker. The troubadour sings a well-known Middle English canon 'Sumer is icomen in, Lhude sing cuccu!' (Source: Toonder Compagnie)
