depicting the story of Samson (of which 4 by Antonius Wierix), all ca. 20.5 x 28.5 cm, after Maerten de Vos (I) (1531/32-1603), numb. 1, 4 and 6, the first signed "Anto. Wierix Fec." and "M. de Vos inve." and w. address "G. d. Iode exc." in lower margin, all w. 1-line Latin text below the image, mounted at upper corners under passepartouts. Good impressions, plate 4 w. Cross of Lorraine watermark and w. good margins (w. vertical fold, a printing flaw), the others trimmed (sl. unevenly) on/ near the borderline. Hollstein (A. Wierix) 37-39 and Hollstein (De Vos) 91, 94 and 96, second state of 4 (numb. 1) and of 3 (number 4 and 6). (4) The sacrifice of Abraham. Engraving 20.5 x 25.5 cm, after De Vos, signed "Martine de Vos inventor" and "Antonius Wie." in lower left corner, w. address "Edduwaert van Hoefwinkel excudebat 1585" in lower r. corner, w. 1-line Latin text below. Very fine impression on paper w. Strassbourg Bend watermark, ample margins. Some sl. soiling and creasing. Hollstein (A. Wierix) 30, Hollstein (De Vos) 248, 1st state (of 2). -and 5 other by and after the same, 4x in first state (of 2-4), 1x in second state (of 3). Antonius Wierix (II) was the brother of Hieronymus Wierix and Johannes Wierix. Added: 3 others by Hieronymus Wierix (1553/54-1619).
