Vos (I), M. de (1531/32-1603) (after). The acts of the apostles

Eight (of 12) engravings, all ca. 18.5 x 13 cm, all signed "M. de Vos invent.", one w. address "Vidua Gerardi de Iode excud." (widow of Gerard de Jode, Paschasia van Geldre, act. 1591-1595), mounted at upper corners under passepartouts. Very good impressions, 6 prints w. very good margins, 2 prints w. good margins apart from thread margin at the r. and half of the lower side (remargined by backing the r. half of the print), one print w. restored blank lower corner. Hollstein 892-894, 898, 900-903, first state (of 2). Rare. Note the short period of activity as printer of the widow of Gerard de Jode, Paschasia van Geldre, who is not even mentioned individually in the RKD as publisher of prints. The son of Gerard de Jode and Paschasia van Geldre, Pieter de Jode (1573-1634) took over the printing activities under his own name as soon as he was old enough. -and 3 others after De Vos by Adriaen Collaert (ca. 1560-1618), dep. scenes from the life of Christ.
