Meredith Monk & The House from New York. Vessel

Performed in Liverpool in 1972. Flyer, 29.7 x 21 cm, printed black and red on white, in amazing design. Announcement for the presentation of Vessel: an opera epic 'in Miss Monk's own style', originally staged in New York in 1971. Excellent copy. Extremely rare.

The early site-specific work involved 75 performers and was presented in three parts at different locations, including a loft and a parking garage. The Liverpool re-staging started at Great Georges Project (part 1 & 2: June 14-15), and concluded at an unnamed Open Air Site (June 16). Also announced on the flyer is 'Raw Recital' (June 9), an one-hour solo performance by Monk. Another re-staging of Vessel took place in 1980 in Berlin. Ref. Meredith Monk, Calling (2024), p. 278.
