Control Magazine complete set Nos. 1-21

London, Control, 1965-2019. Published and edited by Stephen Willats. The seminal periodical centered on conceptual art and art theory, featuring original artwork and writing by international artists and collectives. Twenty one issues were published between 1965 and 2021, all in signature design by Willats. The first 5 issues measure 34.5 x 27 cm with screen printed wrappers, later issues measure 31 x 22.5 cm with printed pictorial wrappers. (exceptions are Nos. 6 and 13 with screenprinted covers). The set includes two copies of No. 3, each with a different original drawing by Peter Upward. Minimal rubbing to the first issues, closed tear of 1 cm on cover of No. 2, very mild soilage to Nos. 6 & 7. Generally a very good to near mint set.

Contributions by Anish Kapoor, John Latham, John Sharkey, Bill Woodrow, Mary Kelly, Lili Fischer, Mark Boyle, Victor Burgin, Tom Phillips, Archigram Group, John Stezaker, Dan Graham, Helen Chadwick, Martha Rosler, Lawrence Weiner, Les Levine, Jenny Holzer et al. Some special themed issues comprise No. 10 1977: Extending the social function of art; No. 11 and 12 1979/1981: Self Organisation; No. 14 1990: Symposium Art Creating Society Oxford, 1989. Issue No. 13 1982 contains an outstanding original artwork by Anish Kapoor consisting of a mounted plastic beetle, scattered with bright blue dye, as well as a neon orange sprayed collage by Glenys Johnson.
