Lower outer corner (vaguely) waterstained, a bit browned, else a good and attractive copy. The twelve allegorical engravings form part of the didactic programme developed by the Jesuits in the late sixteenth and early seventeenth century to articulate the Catholic point of view. The plates address the 'occasio' (the opportunity) to be seized in order to attain salvation of the soul. Landwehr, Emblem & Fable Books, 186.
