René Daniëls. Anarchy in the Recordshop, 1982

Printed plastic bag from Bullit Recordshop, Eindhoven, 40 x 36.5 cm. Reworked on both sides with handwritten text in black crayon by René Daniëls, dated 3 July 1982. The text humorously comments on the design, which alludes to the artist's signature work featuring vinyl records: 'de ontwerper heeft zijn best gedaan' (the designer tried his best').

In the 1980s Eindhoven based artist René Daniëls (b. 1950) gained international recognition for his punk- era-inspired paintings of everyday objects such as vinyl records, skateboards, bookcases, safety pins and cameras. Bullit was an alternative record shop specialising in punk, hardcore and new wave (1982-2012).
