Robert Barry. Art Affiche No. 39
Published by Alain Buyse in Lille, May 1998. Screenprint on thin vellum (40 g), 50 x 35 cm. Included are five signed copies, monogrammed and dated 'RB98', and 5 regular unsigned copies.
The works were produced in a series called 'Les affiches ART?', issued by Buyse, a French printer and publisher of numerous artists' books and art editions. Between 1997 and 2006, 80 artists were invited to create an original silkscreen exploring the question 'what is art?'. Around 100 posters were produced in an edition of 500, all of the same size, but printed on different types of paper. Participants included both young French artists and internationally renowned artist such as Barry, Baldessari, Robert Filliou, Maurizio Nannucci, Esther Ferrer, Antoni Muntadas, Ange Leccia, Claude Closky, and Lawrence Weiner.
