Manuscript account of WWII in in 27 vols., each approx. 30-80 p. Very detailed account recording the events of the war day by day, in a highly legible and neat hand, w. num. newspaper clippings inserted. The style is factual and detached, but goes into great detail, sometimes devoting multiple pages to a single's day developments in the war. The segments relating to the author more directly are written in a noticeably more concise manner, for example the capitulation of the Netherlands he writes: "14 Mei: Rotterdam gebombardeerd. Nederland heeft gecapituleerd. De opperbevelhebber van land- en zeemacht maakte de capitulatie door middel van een korte radio-mededeeling om +- 18.00 uur bekend." The journal also contains occasioal notes on daily life, such as: "22 Februari: Er mogen geen croquetten meer gemaakt worden, waarin aardappelen verwekt zijn."
