[Puppetry. Myanmar] Collection of six fully dressed "yoke thé" marionettes and Naga Min, the mythological dragon-snake
The marionettes w. carved and painted wooden heads, body and limbs are richly and colourfully dressed, height approximately 60-70 cm; the dragon-snake w. carved wooden head and limp cloth body, length 180 cm, all w. their own cloth bags for safe transportation, kept together in one large board box. Collection Otto van der Mieden, w. the labels of his Poppenspe(e)lmuseum still attached. One glass eye of the dragon-snake loose, the threads of the puppets somewhat tangled. Wonderful sm. collection of this puppetry art form with powerful imagery.
