Palau 1293652. Extremely rare pamphlet, just a handful of copies traced in libraries worldwide. Obituary of the famous Spanish bishop of the Yucatan and Guadalajara, Antonio Alcalde Barriga (1701-1792), who arrived in the Yacatan in Mexico in 1763. He studied the Mayan language and later moved to his new diocese in Guadelajara in 1771. The final two pages consist of a list of charitable donations under his 21 years as bishop, such as donations to the poor communities of the Zacatecas and Aguascalientes after a pastoral visit, or to Jerez, enabling them to purchase corn for the hungry. 4to.
