Besides theory and answer keys about linguistics, mathematics, geography and history, the book also contains practical advice on education and upbringing. To maintain order in the classroom, however, not all means are still allowed. According to the handbook, punishment should not ‘schadelijk zijn voor ligchaam of ziel des leerlings, waarom dan ook vuistslagen, schoppen, spotternij enz. zijn aftekeuren.’
