The writer (J.V.L.), suggests that this story was written by Oldenbarnevelt on small pieces of paper, and that he subsequently asked Jan Vrancken to sew them in his chair. At a later stage, or so J.V.L. claims, another copy was made which was published by one of Oldebarnevelt's close friends.
