Mount with dedication by the artist in pen: "Aan Frits Hanf: Plaisir d'amour ne dura qu'un moment. Chagrin d'amour dure toute la vie... [sign.]".
Mou van Dantzig was an art historian, restorer and painter and worked from 1929 to 1930 at the restoration studio of the Kaiser Friedrich-Museum in Berlin. Author of the works 'Schilderkunst, maakwerk, vervalsching' and 'Frans Hals. Echt of Onecht', published in 1937. According to information from a previous owner at our disposal, the artist and Frits Hanf together forged identification cards during the war. Frits Hanf was the brother of famous musician and resistance fighter, Robert Hanf, who did not survive the war.
