(Leiden, 1903), (23) leaves with decorated margins, parchment title page in gold, red and black, bound in lavishly ornamented binding by J. Merckelbagh, 4to. - Also: Houtskool portret, gehoogd met wit, van Prof. Dr. van Geer by Hendrik Haverman, signed, 36x26 cm., in wooden frame behind glass - and added: Cut-out silhouette by the same, "VNJ", 1904.

This book was offered on the occasion of the official farewell of Professor in mathematics Pieter van Geer (1841-1919). It is shaped like an album amicorum and was bound with great taste and eye for detail. The spine is possibly not original (another option is that the binder used a different type of leather that has aged differently). Together with the portrait and the silhouette, this is a beautiful lot.
