[Peepshow] Collection of 9 engraved and handcoloured theatres

ca. 1750, all 7,5x9 cm., consisting of 4 (2x), 5 (3x), and 6 (4x) layers, including tailor-made contemporary box (36x12x11,5 cm.) with glass lens and lid.

Several prints are signed by Martin Engelbrecht (1684-1756). The depicted scenes are: rural scene (2x), dining room, hunt, hardworking ladies, little boats in a canal, harbour, harvest scene and siege. Three theatres lack a background. Most theatres are sl. browned, but on the whole they are in impeccable condition. Beautiful and elaborate collection.
