Laws, Customs and Manners of the Native Inhabitants with a description of the natural productions ans a relation of the ancient political state of that island. William Marsden, London: printed for the author, by J. M'creery and sold by Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme and Brown, 1811.

4to., leather, spine with gilt-stamped title, marbled endpapers, map of Sumatra for the title, VIII,479,(8), p., complete with 27 numbered engravings and an engraving with Sumatran alphabets: Rejang, Batta and Lampong, the engravings by Marsden & Swaine, Heaply & Cardon, Bell & Stadler and Williams, the map with sm. tear and fringe, endpapers messy, title page top right torn off, outside the text, blindstamp and ink stamp, worn binding, inside good. Marsden lived on Sumatra for 8 years and during those years was employed by the East India Company. He established his literary reputation with this work.
