[Album Amicorum. Haastrecht] "Album Amicorum J. Brugman 1783"

Friend album with 83 numbered pages (several missing numbers) 3 of which with drawn contribution and 31 handwritten contributions (1783-1787), ca. 45 empty pages, last 23 pages with handwritten index, finely bound by the "Dissertation Bindery" (Utrecht, 1773-1800) in gilt marbled calf with title, name of the owner and year on the boards, all edges gilt, oblong 8vo (13.5 x 21 cm.).

Marbled endpapers loose, several tie cords broken on inside. For the binding see: Storm van Leeuwen, Dutch decorated bookbinding in the eighteenth century, vol. IIB, p. 814-833. Finely bound album with on page 5 a grisaille with scene of a monument for the friendship "Amicitiae Sacrum" by G. Brugman, on p. 43 a drawing in pen and ink by J. Timmerman and op p. 79 a drawing with allegoric scene by T.T.G (?) van der Willigen (dated Westzaandam 1806). A conspicuous number of contributions were written in Haastrecht, additionally the places Bovenkarspel, Enkhuizen, Leiden, Opperdoes, Utrecht and Zeist appear. Additionally, the following names appear: A. and B. Ledeboer, G.J. ter Braak, B.V. Marken, A. van der Goes, J. Houtam, A.C.L. Bruins, A.H. Eickma, G.J. Zollikofer, D. Hendricksz.
