Karel Appel (1921-2006)

Proof design Kinder Clown. Original enamel painting on copper plaque after the eponymous screen print from 1977, designed by Appel for the Kindercircus in Haren. In 1980 he used this image again for the Kinderclown jewel, an enamelled gold pendant on a chain with inlaid diamond eyes, made by goldsmith Jan van der Linden, in an edition of 18 copies. Diameter 72 mm.
