Deventer, L. leemhorst, 1771-1772, 2 volumes in one binding, XIV,(2),331,(1); (4),327,(1) p., first volume with large folding hand-coloured, engraved map of Russia and North Tartary, 5 engraved plates (2x folding) and 2 folding letterpress tables, second volume with 2 engraved plates and 6 folding letterpress tables outside the text, contemporary half leather, spine gilt with morocco title shield.

2 tables in volume 2 bound in the wrong place, one table tanned. Top hinge split and cardboard of boards visible on outer corners. Good copy. The first Dutch edition. The first French edition appeared in 1768. Finely illustrated with plates by J.C. Philips after J.B. le Prince, the folding plates depict "Russische Reis- en Vragt-Sleden by Winter tyd" and a "Gezicht van Tobolsk". The charts provide scientific data concerning the cold in Siberia, the State of Income of Russia, information on costs and numbers of the army and a French and a Russian distance table.
