[ADO] Logging
Ko Verzuu. 900 logging lorry. Ca. 1932. Length 81 cm.
From 1920, the Berg en Bosch sanatorium was located in the 'silence area' on the edge of Apeldoorn. Lung patients spent many peaceful months there. When they had finally recovered, the transition to working life was difficult. To prepare the patient for this transition, the sanatorium developed a modern treatment: work therapy. One of the patient activities was the production of wooden toys. Those toys received the name ‘ado’, an acronym for ‘arbeid door onvolwaardigen’ ('work by the handicapped') (source: http://www.coda-apeldoorn.nl). Lovely copy with some traces of (old) worm.
