[Friesland. Schotanus à Sterringa] Uitbeelding der heerlijkheit Friesland;

zoo in 't algemeen, als in haar XXX bijzondere grietenijen; door Dr. Bern. Schotanus à Sterringa. Nu niewelijks met bijgevoegde aangrenzingen, en veel vermeerderingen. Nevens d'afteekening van oud Friesland, in VII [= VIII] verschillende landkaarten; door den heere Menso Alting (...). (Leeuwarden), F. Halma, 1718, with 4 letterpress text pages (incl. title), engraved frontispiece, 3 heraldic plates with arms, 1 double-page general map of Friesland, 30 engraved double-page maps (of which 2 folding), for the grietenijen and 8 double-page historical maps (from Menso Alting), all engravings in FINE CONTEMPORARY HANDCOLOURING, contemporary half sheepskin, large folio (57 x 37 cm.).

Engraved title ("G. v.d. Haven disposuit") pasted and cut of on the margin line; several maps with repaired tear (often on/ near middle fold), with fold or slightly stained/ soiled (mostly in blank margins, Haskerland slightly heavier staining). Binding is slightly worn/ rubbed on spine (as usual with this type of leather) and along edges of boards. Still a good and complete, handcoloured copy with wide margins of the second (best) edition of the finest of Friesland atlases. Koeman Schot 2 mentions 45 maps, but all copies traced by us have altogether 39 maps (or fewer). The decorative corner elements are mostly by the Luiken brothers (Klaversma-Hannema 1296; Van Eeghen & Van der Kellen 332).
