SOLD €360,00

Collection of 50 fragments of manuscripts and early printings,

vellum and paper, mostly late middle ages/ renaissance, large variation in size, mainly carefully set in modern leaves with both sides visible, in modern binder.

Lovely and lovingly compiled collection, with for example the inside of the backstrip of an old book binding as a fine example of the practical reusing of once preciously illuminated manuscripts. Most eye-catching, however, are two larger (complete) manuscripts: a French manuscript ("recongnoissance") on 8 vellum sheets (connected with binding cord)(15 p., 29 x 20 cm.), dated 2 May 1612 (waterstained and more minor defects) and a battered manuscript in Latin on 13 sheets (25 p., ca. 30 x 20 cm.), ca. 1600 (total 50 fragments/ manuscripts in binder).
