Minor worm holes in bottom right corner, back board and backstrip lack pieces of leather at bottom; minor other defects. Good copy with 18th-century engraved bookplate of "R.r. le Bel Horloger à Orbec", pasted across an older owner's name. Important, often reprinted treatise on the construction of timelines and curves on all possible surfaces, and the tools necessary. The first edition (with 58 plates) appeared in 1641.
