Extensive diary/ manuscript of a journey of the Van Iddekinge family to the eye doctor Friedrich Hermann De Leuw in 1834. In green morocco with gilt title on spine, 8vo. 132 pp.

*Travel account written by one of the daughters of Tjaerd Anthony van Iddekinge, bewindhebber (director) of the Dutch West India Company, together with brother Willem Pieter (owner of Huize Randenbroek) and sister Henriëtte (Margaretha Hendrina van Iddekinge). The three of them travelled together to the famous eye doctor Friedrich Hermann De Leuw (1792-1861) in Gräfrath for Henriëtte, who suffered from an eye disease and for Willem, who had a problem with his leg. '...wij (...) reden niet zonder aandoening van vrees en hoop naar Nijmegen - wij ondernamen geen reis tot vermaak, of louter genoegen -'. The diary contains reports of the treatments of Dr. De Leuw, trips in the surrounding area and encounters with other patients. The visit becomes a trip of three months; Henriëtte's eye problem returns after only four weeks. With a folding drawing in pencil and watercolour.
