[Plan Utrecht on cloth] Platte grond der stad Utrecht.

De kadastrale opmeting gevolgd. Antiquely handcoloured, engraved plan by Willem Cornelis van Baarsel (1791-1854) and Petrus Nicolai Tuyn (1812-1867), Utrecht, Nicolaas van der Monde, n.d. (1839), 55 x 53 cm., printed on cloth, with decorative title and compass rose in top corners, above a legend with more than 250 streets, bridges, churches, public buildings and ferries, with publisher's stamp "NVDM" on reverse, folded in paper chemise and cloth slipcase with lithographed title label in French and Dutch, 14 x 10 cm.

Excellent copy, the slipcase with small library label to front. Donkersloot-De Vrij, kaarten van Utrecht, 28.1. Very rare copy on cloth of the first stand-alone edition of this detailed plan based on new land registry maps, reprinted in 1847/1852 by Bollaan and in 1860 by Dannenfelser. Van der Monde issued the plan in 1838 in his Tijdschrift voor geschiedenis, oudheden en statistiek van Utrecht, without the legend, which was included in the text and could be completed or corrected by readers. The first stand-alone edition was available in 3 variants: uncoloured at 1.40 guilders, handcoloured at 2.10 guilders and a deluxe edition handcoloured on cloth at 2.40 guilders.
