[Werkman] Blad voor kunst. October 1921 (= no. 1).

Maandblad onder redactie van Jan Wiegers, J.G. Jordens, W.F. Reinders, H.N. Werkman, Daniel Ruyneman, Elisabeth Zernike, Herman Poort, A.R. Wittop Koning. Groningen, H.N. Werkman, 1921, (16) p., with original woodcuts (incl. wrapper and 1x inlaid) by Jan Wiegers (incl. 1x in colour), Jan Jordens and Gerard Jordens, 3 pasted illustrations and 1 other illustration in line cliché, original stapled wrapper, large 4to, 33 x 28.5 cm.

Wrapper and contents with (vage) folds/ creasing and a few minor tears. The wrapper is also sl. soiled/ stained. Still an acceptable copy of the first issue (of only 6 issues in total) of this very rare avant-garde periodical, which according to PiCarta appeared in 2 variants. In our variant (proof copy?) a few corrections have been added in pencil. The woodcut "Jean" by Gerard Jordens has a pencil correction in the caption and in the table of contents. On page 10 (entirely blank) has been noted in pencil: "Hier artikel Daniel Ruyneman". On page 15 part of a sentence in the article "Dijkstra bij Ongering" has been crossed out. The issue contains the following original woodcuts: outside and inside wrapper and "Jonglerende clown"' (in colour) by Jan Wiegers; the aforementioned woodcut "Jean" by Gerard Jordens; the loose supplement and two vignettes by Jan Jordens. We traced copies online with a wider pagination, 10 woodcuts and a slightly smaller size, possibly a copy of the other variant. The start issue of the series is slightly larger than the following numbers, which are all of the same size.
