[Magic tricks/ Transformation] 4 titles: (1) Bosco, de toovenaar in Holland

(c. 1850), 96 p., with woodcut frontispiece portrait and title portrait, original printed wrapper, small 8vo.

Inside with a few defects such as mild waterstaining and foxing, paper across spine torn (book falling apart). Nevertheless a very acceptable copy of this fragile work. Extremely rare, no copies of this second Dutch printing in PiCarta. The first Dutch printing (1x in PiCarta) also appeared in Amersfoort, at W.J. van Bommel van Vloten, in 1845. There, the translator is mentioned ("Rhadamantus"). The third printing appeared in Amsterdam in 1864 (2x in PiCarta): (2) Zauber Bilder. Germany, c. 1890, Set of 8 cards with captions of 9 x 5.5 cm., lithographed in red and green, together with a perforated sheet of the same size in the original envelope with chromolithographic plate on front, 9 x 6 cm. Very rare and lovely set of transformation cards. Moving the perforated sheets across one of the 8 coloured cards shows 2 different images per card. And with 2 more. (total 4)
