Album amicorum Broese/ Van Rhijn-Snoeck Breda 1826 - c. 1845

Album of "mejuffrouw C.E. [Betsie] Snoeck", abundantly filled with 26 contributions in pen and ink, 13 full-page drawings in various media with the text in pen on the reverse (1x recto), 6 contributions with the text and a drawing recto, 7 contributions with embroidery (with appliqués) and text recto, 3 leaves with extremely refined perforating pen work with relief of flowers with text, an oak leaf perforated down to the veins, a piece of clipping art in black on white mount, and ± 20 unused sheets of paper in various colours, all loose in the original gilt red morocco portfolio with gilt-lettered "spuvenir" on front board, 5 ties, oblong small 8vo.

Very rich album in perfect condition. Incl.: (1) Gouache of a boy with dog in landscape: "Bredake den 1 Julijke 1832ke. Ter gedachtenisse van uw liefhebbende Broederke Simon van Rijn Snoeck"; (2) Beautiful gouache river landscape with castles, figures and boats, signed "Osterbein" (1838); (3) View of a house in pencil, by J. van Kamen (1843); (4) View of a ruin in grisaille by A.G. Kempers (1840); (5) Beautiful coastal view in grisaille signed "Jac. Hend. Franc. Jansen 1833"; (6) Extremely detailed oak leaf perforated down to its veins to be held against the light with the album leaf to which it is affixed as similar-shaped mount, with motto "Langzaam maar zeker!", by "Uw vriendin J.A. Bührmann"; (7) Bifolium with in one leaf beautiful detailed perforation work in the shape of flowers, facing a poem by Elize Matthes (1832) on the other leaf (with 2 other similar examples); (8) Embroidered bouquet in coloured silk, above a poem by M.D. van der Feen (1833); (9) Similar embroidery with appliqués by M.M. Deeleman (1844) (with several other similar examples); (10) Poem besides a small gouache of violas by "votre (...) cousin M.E. Matthes" (1830) (with 4 similar examples).
