[School prize bindings] 3 bindings: (1) Full gilt panelled vellum binding,

both covers with the central coat of arms of Alkmaar, within double fillet border and together with corner ornaments in decorative second border around sides, gilt spine with repeated fleurons in 6 compartments, large 8vo.

Vellum sl. soiled; lacks ties, else fine. With folding letterpress prize filled out in pen, awarded to Jano Ludovico Gregory Pierson, dated 1821, signed by the "curatores gymnasii Alcmariensis" J.H. Blom Adrsz., J.G. de Loches, J.A. Kluppel and 1 illegible, and also signed by rector J.C. Fullink. Very rare, not in Spoelder. Coat of arms on the covers repeated in woodcut on the prize. On: P. Rutilii Lupi De figuris sententiarum et elocutionis libri duo. Recensuit et annotationes adjecit David Ruhnkenius (...). Leiden, S. and J. Luchtmans, 1768, C,276,(15) p.; (2) Full speckled sheepskin binding, both covers with central gilt coat of arms of 's-Hertogenbosch, ribbed and gilt spine with fleurons and mor. letterpiece in 6 compartments, large 8vo. Ties mostly missing; spine rubbed and chipped at ends, corners bumped, back cover sl. chafed. Without prize. Spoelder, 's-Hertogenbosch 5. On: the same work and edition as (1). And 1 other school prize binding, with the coat of arms of Dokkum (Spoelder, Dokkum 4) on both covers. (total 3)
