[Albinism. Escapism] Tom Jack the Ice-King

Der Eiskönig. The mystery of the century. Friedländer, Hamburg, 1910. Consisting of 2 parts, each ca. 96 x 71 cm. Lith. no. 5173.

Sl. worn along folding lines, occ. mild toning in margins. *Karl Breu (1884-1953) adopted his stage name Tom Jack, following the artistry of Houdini, an escape artist and magician. However, he was mostly remembered for his unusual looks: Karl was born with severe albinism, and intertwined his act and his physical features of a snow white skin, white hair and pink eyes into a mythological persona: the "Ice King".
