Gazeau), 1547, 143,(1) p., with woodcut title-vignette and 113 half-p. ills. by Bernard Salomon (?), woodcut vignette on final p., very finely bound in 19th/ 20th cent. crushed orange mor. by M. Lortic, both covers w. central gilt coat-of-arms of the Prince d'Essling, gilt and ribbed spine w. monogram "VM" (of Victor Masséna d'Essling et de Rivoli (1836-1910)) in compartments, richly gilt turn-ins, marbled endpapers, a.e.g., sm. 16mo.

Leaf B2 w. restored tear (sl. affecting text); some sm. professional marginal restorations; first free endpaper loose. A very fine, desirable copy with ample margins and in a beautiful binding. Praz 249; Landwehr 34; Adams/ Rawles/ Saunders F.019 ("this is the first edition to incorporate the earlier emblems with those from the Venice edition").
