This library was sold at auction in 1872 (catalogue digitally available); our work was sold as number 1883, location "FF - 5" ("avec la planche du brevet"). Caillet 9754. The original edition. The Carbonari were a secret society of revolutionary tendency, probably an offshoot of the freemasons, from whom they differed in important particulars. They gained inporatance in Southern Italy during the Napoleonic wars. In France they took root about 1820. Bound with: (2) (L.A.Fr.) de Marchangy.
