Lacks the frontisp. in vol. 1 (identical to the one in vol. 2). Otherwise a very fine copy, with bookplate of Luis Bardon (Madrid), his bookplate on lower pastedown of vol. 1. Rare edition, no copies in NCC. Description of a copy (Bibliothèque Mazarine) in WorldCat: "Sans doute impr. en Hollande. Front., compris dans la pagination, gr. par J. Van Vianen, a chaque vol." Marguerite de Navarre (1492-1549), princess of France, Queen of Navarre, Duchess of Alençon and Berry, wife of Henry II of Navarre, King of France, and sister of the French king Francis I. the first edition of her most notable work, the frequently reprinted classic collection of short stories Heptameron, was published in 1558; (2) Charles Coypeau d'Assoucy. Loyson, 1664, 48 pp., bound in fine 19th cent.calf, both covers with gilt ornamental border, gilt inside dentelles and board edges, gilt and ribbed spine w. mor letterpiece, a.e.g., 12mo. Leather splitting at upper joint (lower 3 compartments of spine loosening. Bound with: Idem. Le iugement de Paris. Poeme Burlesque. Ibid., idem, 71 pp. (a few lvs. cut sl. short at upper margin. And bound with 1 incomplete other by the same. And 1 other finely bound convolute containing 2 vols., of which the first incomplete. (total 6 titles in 4 vols.)
