Some occ. stains (also affecting two plates). A fine and very attractive copy, from the library of Baron de Bellet, with his heraldic bookplate on upper pastedown. Lowndes I, 78: "A romantic account of the adventures of the Pretender." The first English edition appeared in London, 1746 (cf. Halkett & Laing I, 151). Ours is the second French edition. An interesting, anonymously published account of the Battle of Culloden, in which the Young Pretender was defeated by the Duke of Cumberland. The author John Burton (1710-1771) was an antiquary and physician at York.
